A football player of the Bangalore Mars Club suffered a massive heart
attack and died on the spot while playing a match at the Bangalore
Football Stadium.
Venkatesh (34) is a first division player of the local club. He collapsed on the ground while warming up in the practice area during a match against South Western Railways.
Police said that there was no ambulance present at the stadium during the match. He was rushed to a hospital by his teammates in an auto. However, he was declared dead in the hospital.
The cause of his death would be ascertained after the post-mortem report. The initial diagnosis suggested that he died due to cardiac arrest.
