In this digital era, the TV channels rely on reality shows to boost
their TRPs. In India, there is a big race among the channels to outwit
each other in wooing the audience through reality shows.
There are many reality shows, which are generally fake and have a
malafide intention. It's not easy for the viewers to distinguish between
the good and bad. Thus, we have listed five top reality shows, which
are worth watching even though some of them are controversial by nature.
1. Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC)

This show has successfully completed five seasons and now heading
towards the sixth in 2012. KBC is a reality/game show which offers a
maximum cash prize of Rs. Five Crore on the hot seat against the
answers, whose questions are put by the host.
Actor of the Century Amitabh Bachchan is the host of KBC since its
first ever season. Undoubtedly the outstanding success of the show is
backed by the presence of Bachchan as the host.
The Fifth season of KBC was the most popular show on Indian
television. Sushil Kumar, a computer operator and tutor from a small
village of Bihar went on to win the top prize of 5 Crore rupees in the
show which was the biggest event of KBC, aired on 2nd November 11.The
season established a new record in TRP with comparison to any TV serials
in India so far.
2. Bigg Boss

They are watched over by an unseen person through the surveillance
cameras fixed at different points of the house. The person is known as
‘Bigg Boss’ whose only presence in the house is through his voice.
The show has gradually got momentum with bigger and better stars
hosting it. The latest season was hosted by Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt.
Although the show has been criticized by many for the in house
quarrels and odd developments, it is undoubtedly the most discussed
reality show on Indian television.
3. Comedy Circus

So far, comedy circus has completed 11 seasons named differently like
- Comedy Circus 20 - 20, Dekh India Dekh, Comedy Circus 3 Ka Tadka,
Maha Sangram (2010), Comedy Circus Ke SuperStars (2010), Comedy Circus
Ka Jadoo (2010), Jubilee Comedy Circus (2010/2011), Comedy Circus Ke
Taansen (2011), Comedy Circus Ka Naya Daur (2011), and Kahani Comedy
Circus Ki (2012).
Till date, the most consistent performers of this show have been
Krishna Abhishek and Sudesh Lehri and judge is Archana Puran Singh.
Besides the contestants, celebrities like Shekhar Suman, Shreyas
Talpade, Arshad Warsi, Tanushree Dutta, Arbaaz Khan, Divya Dutta, Rakesh
Bedi, have performed and earned top appreciation in the show. However
the top performers of Comedy circus are - Kapil Sharma, Bharti Singh,
Krushna Abhisek, Sudesh Lehri, Si,ddharth Jadav, Rajeev Thakur, VIP, Ali
Asgar and Swapnil Joshi.
4. Dance India Dance (DID)

Besides the three seasons, DID has also been telecasted as Dance
India Dance Li'l Masters, Dance India Dance Doubles, and Dance Ke
Superstars.
The show is choreographed by some of the top Bollywood
choreographers, such as Terence Lewis, Remo D'Souza and Geeta Kapoor.
They are also the mentors and Veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty is the
grandmaster of the show.
The dance styles performed in DID includes almost all styles mainly
including – Locking and popping, ballet, acrobatics, shadow dancing,
mid-air dancing, Broadway theatre, contemporary, Bollywood and hip-hop.
The show gathers dancers aged 15 to 25 from all over India through
auditions at some major cities of India. Once selected in the audition,
they are trained by professionals and compete against each other in the
show.
5. Roadies

Roadies have been shot in India and abroad including Australia,
Brazil, Thailand, Malaysia and Africa. Raghu Ram and Rajiv [Twins] are
two people who usually take the personal interviews for this reality
show.
They are well known for their frank behavior and free usage of slang
and abuses with the interviewees and the contestants. They claim that it
is to motivate them and get the best out of them.
