In a big relief to DMK MP Kanimozhi, the Delhi High Court on Monday finally granted her bail in the massive 2G spectrum allocation case. She will now walk free after spending six months in Tihar jail.
The court also granted bail to four others: filmmaker Karim Morani, Kaliagnar TV MD Sharad Kumar and private firm Kusegaon Fruits and Vegetables Pvt Ltd directors Asif Balwa and Rajeev Agarwal.
As per the court's order, all the accused will have to furnish two bond sureties of Rs 5 lakh each. However, the CBI opposed former Telecom Secretary Siddharth Behura's bail.
Kanimozhi along with five co-accused had approached the High Court after the Supreme Court granted bail to five corporate executives: Unitech Limited MD Sanjay Chandra, Swan Telecom Director Vinod Goenka and Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group executives Hari Nair, Gautam Doshi and Surendra Pipara.
The court on Friday had adjourned the bail plea of Kanimozhi and five others in the case.
Kanimozhi was behind the bars after she was arrested in May. She had been attempting to get bail. Finally her bail application was granted today and she will walk free out of prison.
