Indians spend 8.4 Hours a Day Online

According to a recent survey, most of the Indians use internet and stay online for around 8.4 hours a day and 58 hours a week. The report suggested that the popularity of internet is more in the country.

The survey conducted by Norton security of Symantec, an online software security company, showed that Indians prefer to access internet for over 8 hours as the best way of communication.

The survey was conducted among 500 adults, including 48 per cent women and 52 per cent men in the age group of 18 to 64 last February. About 83 per cent of the respondents said that they could not stay away from the Internet for more than 24 hours.

While about 40 per cent of the respondents described that they worth their financial information the most, another 35 per cent mentioned their online accounts, including email and social network information to be of prime importance to them.

The survey also brought into light the fact that in India Email is only being used essentially for professional and official purposes while all the personal works, link building and communications are made through social networking sites.

However, during the survey some people also put their doubt regarding the online security of the documents. They said that in spite of the heavy sponsorship there should be some basic and permanent solutions for Internet security.
