The Indian rupee rose by 3 paise to Rs 51.67 against the US dollar in early trade on the Interbank Foreign Exchange on Wednesday increasing the value of the currency in banks overseas.
The rupee was Rs 51.70/71 per US dollar in the previous session. It fell to 51.90 per dollar before quoting at 51.86/87 at 10:30 hours.
The domestic currency was between Rs 51.60 and Rs 51.90 per dollar in early trade in the morning.
However, the demand for the rupee in banks remained still affected against the dollar with the fall of the currency by 20 paise to 51.90 per USD.
Meanwhile, the BSE rose by 57.28 points, or 0.30 per cent, to 16,222.37 in opening trade on Wednesday.
