After a political debate on Lokpal Bill at Jantar Mantar, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati attacked the Congress alleging that the UPA government does not want to bring a strong Lokpal Bill in the country.
Mayawati demanded the inclusion of the Prime Minster and lower Bureaucracy under the ambit of Lokpal rejecting the Parliamentary panel's draft.
She said that the PM and Group C officials should come under the anti-corruption watchdog. Making her stand clear on current report of the Parliamentary panel, she said that BSP would oppose the draft at all-party meeting on Wednesday.
The BSP supremo said that Congress does not want a strong Lokpal Bill to fight corruption in the country. Focusing on the efforts against corruption by the BSP in UP, she said that her party has taken strong action to curb corruption in the state. She said that the strong action has been taken against the party members after the Lokayukta's reports.
Mayawati's statement came ahead of Prime Minister called an all-party meeting on Wednesday to take a broad consensus on the Lokpal Bill, which would be passed in ongoing winter session of the Parliament.
Dr Singh is under pressure to reach at a final solution as the Opposition BJP has made its stand clear against the government's draft of Lokpal Bill. BJP has been demanding the inclusion of the PM, lower bureaucracy and Citizens' Charter under the Lokpal.
