Hackers deface Sonia Gandhi's Profile

Hackers broke into the official website of India's ruling Congress party Friday and defaced the profile page of party president Sonia Gandhi with a pornographic message.

After Union Telecom Minister suggested the social networking firms for the pre-screening of the content, hackers broke into the official website of Congress party and defaced the profile page party president Sonia Gandhi with a pornographic message.

The official website of the Congress www.congress.org.in was not accessible to the public on Friday after the site was hacked. The site was targeted on Mrs. Gandhi's 65th birthday and the attack came just two days after the government expressed a strong reaction over the morphed content on the social media sites.

Congress spokesman Tom Vadakhan said that the site has been closed for temporary period. The hackers were not identified till now.

Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal suggested the Firms Facebook, Twitter and Google to remove the offensive content from their sites describing the content hurt the sentiments of people.

His statement came after the morphed pictures of Mrs. Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh appeared on Facebook that created a buzz on the internet. The government's reaction over such content showed that it is concerned for the image of Mrs. Gandhi and her family that dominated the politics since six decades.
