Puri Sea Beach remains unsafe for Tourists

The recent drowning incident, which left two tourists dead in Puri, has put a question mark on the safety measures taken by the authorities at the Puri sea beach.

Two software engineers Sonu Gupta (Chhattisgarh) and Hemant Choudhury (Maharashtra) were swept away by the high tide on Sunday. They were working in Bhubaneswar.

The lifeguards and local fishermen tried to save them, but in vain. It was not the first case of drowning death in Puri. At least 24 people have been died so far of drowning at the Puri Sea beach this year.

About 60 home guards were recently hired for guarding the sea beach. However, still this is not enough. It's high time the government and the administration take strong steps to set things in order and prevent such mishaps. Or else, Puri Sea Beach will become a death bed for the tourists.
